As the learning process continues for the u10s who had an away trip at Southwell today showed that spirit is what drives these girls on and the understanding of the game will come later. The technical Southwell side applied constant pressure but early close range saves by Alice Thompson kept them at bay. As the girls soaked up attacks Ellie Barrow who's learning quick, marked up and closed down the opposition well. Chelsea Musgrove switched from defence to midfield bolstering up the middle of the park as did Rosie Bradley who ran tirelessly throughout the game improving all the time. The second half saw a reshuffle again which saw captain for the day Phoebe-Wardle-Collins turn goalie and pulled off supers saves throughout the half which saw both sets of parents applauding. But as the game wore on tired legs set in and Elena Gale sometimes found herself the last line of defence chucking in challenges to holt the Southwell side. Lucia Wardle who is liking her role of switching between forward and midfield was involved in some great 1-2 passing which shows her confidence is there. At full time both sets of parents gave our girls a round of applause and there was a nice comment from the Southwell coach at how our girl’s heads never dropped, so it’s another well done minnows player-of-the-match.......all of them.
