With another full side the Notts under 9s took to a baltic wet and boggy church lane pitch and took on a larger Westbridgford side. The 1st half was of few chances with both sides having not much luck in front of goal. Alice thompson was more a spectator in the Notts goal as Chelsea Musgrove and player of match Carlie Bown kept the attack to a minimum with great tackles and super ball layoffs up to midfield as the trio in the middle of the park of Elena Gale Phoebe-Wardle-Collins and Abigail Newman found it harder going than normal on the sticky pitch with all 3 of them winning their 50/50 balls and dominating for long periods. Captain Lucia Wardle had defenders marking her all game as she was always nipping into space to receive the ball. A goalless 1st half saw Kayleigh Street come into the action as she gave the opposition a headache by shifting her position up front. The couple of times Alice was called into action she dealt well with the mud pie ball as Chelsea again man-marked forwards the whole game. Carlie’s 1st time in defence was really positive as her confidence grew with every tackle and with what seemed to be the last 5mins Elena chucked herself into crowds of bodies to win the ball as Phoebe upped the tempo her bursting runs through the mud kept Westbridgford on the back foot as did Abigail’s skill full runs in from the right delivering solid balls into the box. As Lucia and Kayleigh juggled positions both girls mucked in well on a hard morning for footy. Unfortunately a couple of goals against the run of play left it just a little bit hard for a comeback. On the balance of things our girls deserved something from the game and they did...pride at just looking how far they've come in such a short time. Well done minnos.

Three new additions to the side this Sunday which meant that the Under 9s had a full side plus subs for the first time since September of last year! Notts County under 9s were at home to Sherwood and for most of the first half it was pretty even with very few chances. Captain Elena Gale partnering player of match Chelsea Musgrove at the rear who both marked up well and tackled hard. The midfield of Lucia Wardle, Phoebe-Wardle-Collins and new girl Abigail Newman had long periods of possession with Kayleigh Street learking up front. Notts fell behind to a couple of unfortunate own goal which they could do nothing about but our girls still kept their heads. Just before the break 2 more new girls took to the park having not played before with Carlie Bown and Ellie-May Bramley both settling in quickly and not being phased by being put straight into the action. As usual Alice Thompson in goal bravely dived at the oppositions feet and handled long range efforts throughout the game. Notts hit a goal back just after the 2nd half whistle with phoebe scoring a great solo effort with a top corner finish. A reshuffle saw Elena and Phoebe swap positions and others taking a breather as Abigail took a knock on the ankle but soldiered on and produced some super twisting runs up field to Kayleigh and Lucia with both girls confidence growing by the minute. Carlie and Ellie-May had positive attitudes that were great to see as for 40 minutes Chelsea did an ace man marking job. It’s the first time these girls have played together as a full side and the early signs are good every girl played their part with big smiles all round. Well done little ones fine effort.

The u9s with a squad of 6 took to the windy west park pitch having not played for several months. The steady start saw the girls fall behind to 2 quick goals which seemed to spur them into life. The 4x10 minute quarters? which the girls had to adapt to ment soon as they got their passing game going it was back to square 1 as the whistle was blew every time.Captain chelsea musgrove partnered by kayleigh street at the rear saw the pair hold out the attacks with great tackles and quick clearences. The midfield of Phoebe-wardle-colins and Elena gale produced some neat one-twos up the park as lucia wardle was waiting to pounce on goal. From the 1st quarter alice was throwing herself at players feet snatching balls away from players and producing some supers goal kicking which earned her the player-of-the-match (yep sorry alice i left it in my other bag)!.A reshuffle after the next quarther saw elena and phoebe drop into defence lucia and kayleigh into the middle and chelsea up front. The defence battled hard as phoebe had time to tie alices boot lace! then sprint across goal and clear a shot with a super sliding tackle!.alice continued to bravely hand the ball as well as Elena chucking her body behind shots to keep the wave of shots out.Kayleigh and lucia partnered up well in the middle of the pitch as they both tried to push the ball on for chelsea as they all tried to get something out the game with chelsea constantly look for space but they ran out of time.As ive said before great team effort and spirit, not out played just out scored.well done little n's.
