Notts County under 10s took the long trip to Retford in a reverse fixture from the previous week and having only 7 available it was gunna be a tough game from the off as Retford had the luxury of nearly having 2 full sides!. With few chances again in the early quaters retford threw bodies behind the ball to snuff out chances. On a narrow and short pitch the girls couldnt play their passing and moving game and had to adapt with counter attacks. Captain for the day Rosie Bradley played central defence this week and marshalled it well as she made last second tackles when it was needed. Ellie Barrow was an attacking defender as she won balls well and set off up field delivering great crosses into the box. Lydia Sears playing her first full match played well in the middle of the park tackling well which gave her the player of the match trophy. But 7 v large squad who constantly had fresh legs and a couple of times County left themselves with a bit too much to do and found themselve trailing. With the last ten minute team talk the girls decided they hadnt come all this way not to score so as the whistle went they went for it winning 50/50 balls as did keeper Chelsea Musgrove who's getting more confident racing off her line to collect charging balls that came at her. Again Paris Greenham had a great game showing that swapping positions doesnt effect her game filling in at left back. Elena Gale went on some super mazey runs taking on players which was great to see as these quick breaks gave Phoebe -Wardle -Collins the chance to score the goal our team wanted as she danced through and tucked it away neatly. Yet again the under 10s were a credit to the club with a super display.

Probably the best football that Notts County under 10s have played all season as the girls entertained Retford United in the League Plate competition and this was to be a very tight game from start to finish. The first 2x10min quarters saw Notts putting pressure on the goal but few chances as efforts from Lucia Wardle and Phoebe -Wardle-Collins seem to rebound off a wall of defenders. As Notts looked for ways through Elena Gale spread play across the park to stretch the Retford side as did Chloe Phillips making strong runs from defence on quick counter attacks. Player of the match Rosie Bradley in adapting to her role fast as she did a great left sided defensive job on a tricky winger and made the ball hers every time. Fresh from a break in the med! Ellie Barrow showed no sighs of fatigue as her ball distribution from deffence was super, Paris Greenham had her hand in Notts taking the lead as she won the ball and centred for Phoebe to place in for the 1st but it was still tight .Chelsea Musgrove in goal has worked hard and her ball awareness showed as she stopped several Retford charges as the game progressed. But it was Notts who found a 2nd as phoebe slotted in to ease the nerves. A Unfortunate OG that was no fault on anyone’s behalf, did let Retford back in but with Ellies, Chloes and Rosies gritty attitudes forced the ball from defence into the center mid where Lucia and Elena pushed on to give the support for Paris and Phoebe to race clear and give Notts some breathing space. 3-1 winners in the cup game and next week its the reverse fixture in the league well done and another game played in great spirits.

The seven stars of Notts County under 10s today entertained Derby County, they continued where they left off from last week with an excellent solid team performance. The first 10mins was pretty even as both sides traded shots but firm hands from Chelsea Musgrove kept them out. Notts took the lead through persistence in the Derby goalmouth as player of the match Paris Greenham tucked away in the bottom corner. But derby hit 2 quick goals as Notts under 10s just started to up the tempo and it paid off as Phoebe-Wardle-Collins raced clear and leveled things up on the 20min mark. Great defensive work from Rosie Bradley kept derby at bay for the rest of the game as she controlled the left side. Lucia Wardle came close to increasing her goal tally but efforts just went wide as she kept the opposition busy again. Chloe Phillips gave Notts more scoring opportunities as her quick thinking from the counter attacking style put the ball into the box for a bit of a scramble that found midfielder for the 2nd half Elena Gale to react quickest and hammer it in for her 1st goal! in 4 seasons into the roof of the net. Evenly matched going into the last 10mins Derby replied before Notts struck again as Lucia drew her marker away leaving Phoebe to tuck 2 more in for Notts. As derby looked to get something from the game, the defence of Rosie, Chloe and Paris stood firm as Chelsea commanded her box. As the girls ran down the clock Elena played neat passes amongst the centre of the park as the girls tried to keep possession.

This week saw Notts County under 10s travel to Bingham with more self belief and it soon shone as early efforts from Lucia Wardle and Phoebe-Wardle-Collins had the Bingham rear stretched. The Notts side camped in the oppositions half for most of the first period with Paris Greenham holding the middle of the park as if she owned it winning her challenges. The Bingham side struck first as a rare lapse let them in as keeper Chelsea Musgrove raced off her line only to see the ball slip pass her charge from goal. But Notts hit back quickly as from the kick off Phoebe danced through the Bingham side and tucked it away. The 2nd period saw the game open up a little with captain Elena Gale breaking down forwards and laying off great passes as did solid as ever Chloe Phillps who just seems to stop anything that comes her way with quality balls out to wide positions. Ellie Barrows dogged defending saw her release a pass the saw Notts score again with a double strike in the period by Phoebe. The next quarter was goalless with both side not having a real chance on goal but the girls decided that they was going to give it their all for the last 10mins as position changes gave Rosie Bradley a run up front and Lucia drop into the centre of the park but taking a ball in the face she left the field to get cleaned up only to return and carry on which earned her the player of the match. Notts upped the tempo as Paris dropped into defence and Elena moved up the field with great effect as link up work with Rosie and Phoebe saw Notts take the lead. As the seconds ticked down Ellie battled away to clear her lines as did Chloe clearing ever ball that crossed her path. Chelsea marshalled her goal in the closing period but a lucky strike gave Bingham a goal but our girls held firm for a cracking result. Great team effort girls.

This was a game where Notts County Ladies under 10s found themselves chasing for the word go as they came up against a strong and well drilled West Bridgford side who had clearly been playing for several seasons longer than their opposition. Chelsea Musgrove who has now taken to goal keeping duties as well as an outfield player covered her goal well and turned out a great performance. The girls tried out various positions on the pitch as they tried to find areas on the pitch that suited them, Alice Thompson dived in at midfield holding up play well as did Player of the match Paris Greenham switching from defence and centre mid. Lydia Sears is proving to be a player for the future as she covered most of the pitch with her constant running with Lucia Wardle dropping into defence at one point and marking up well. Ellie Barrow again tackled hard and is becoming a big team player Alongside Elena Gale who ran out of steam through her persistent running near the end. Phoebe-Wardle-Collins again tried every avenue to look for the goals but the West Bridgford side just seemed to have the edge. The game was played in good spirits from both sets of players, managers and parents and again a positive comment was made by the opposition’s manager. Great team effort today, well done.
